No wonder everyone at work is sick! I work in a call center, and my contract is in a separate room closed off from the rest of the building (I guess it's "top secret" or something
). There are about 100 people that are squeezed into this room, and they say they HAVE to run the air con because the computers generate too much heat otherwise. Granted, the rest of the room is comfortable...until you get to my row. I set at the very end in the corner surrounded by huge windows which do nothing to insulate that area. On top of that, the air con vent is directly above my station so when it kicks on it blows right down my neck. Everyone in our row basically freezes for 8 hours! I usually wear a long sleeve t-shirt under a sweatshirt or heavy sweater and I still have to put my coat on somedays. Half the people have brought in blankets and bundle up between calls.
We did get them to turn on the heat one day, and they turned it off 1/2 hour later because other people were complaining it was too warm. I don't understand why they can't just turn off the vents in our row. There is literally a 10 degree difference between our row and the next. It doesn't help that they didn't seal the sprinkler system in our row so all the cold air from the 3rd floor (that is not in use so isn't heated) comes right through there. Yep...you can see into the attic from my desk.
I'm sorry....I just had to vent a little. If I catch pneumonia, you can bet I'm going to sue!
