Hello,

My cat really hasn’t been herself since she got pregnant back in March 2021. Back in July, she was heaving and gagging as though she had a fur ball but it was like she was unable to catch her breath. That only happened a few times and it has now stopped a number of months ago but I did try her on Benadryl and wipes her fur with hay fever wipes (cleared with vets before hand) as I thought it was hay fever related. She was also sneezing often. For the past 2-3 months she has been having issues with her eyes. Her third eyelids on both eyes are protruding, one of them is stuck shut often (when she’s just woken up) and it’s as though it’s a struggle for her to open them or look at light. I have took her to the vet who has tried her on steroids, her bloods have been taken and she’s been cleared of FIV and the vet has now said there’s not much more they can advise. She is eating absolutely fine, her weight is good and she is as loving as ever but there seems to be no answer for the reason her eyes are like this. She is also over grooming to the point where her fur is soaking wet and when she is kneading she is purring and sometimes has a drop or two of drool.
Any advise or help as to what this could be?

I think it may be time to try to find a feline specialist in your area, someone who ONLY sees cats. AAFP | American Association of Feline Practitioners IF there is a university near you with a veterinary medicine school, they may be of great help as well. They may not be cheaper than a regular vet, but you will be seen by people who are learning (under DIRECT supervision) the very latest in diagnostic techniques and treatments, with the most up-to-date equipment.
