I have two cats, a 9 year old and 10 month old, both spayed females. One of them (I suspect the younger) has taken to peeing on my clothes if I leave them on the floor overnight. This morning there was a puddle of urine on the floor at the foot of the bed. When we first got her, she peed in my closet (we assume it was her) then nothing until the last month or so, when she started peeing on my clothes. Only my clothes, only my room. As far as we can tell, she hasn't done it anywhere else in the apt and not in my roommates bedroom. The first time and this morning, it was the older cat who I found pawing around the area as if to cover it up. Someone told me that this must mean she's the culprit, because cats won't try to cover another cat's urine. Does anyone know if that's true or not? I'd hate to be focusing on the wrong cat, but she is Practically Perfect in Every Way as far as behaviour-has been since we took her in as a stray. She has been very nonchalant both times, but the other cat acts guilty as all get out. If the kitten sees me smell clothes or sniff anything, she runs and hides (I did yell at her last time, I confess, so don't know if she just associates the sniffing with getting in trouble or getting in trouble with peeing outside the box).
Besides the above question, if she had a urinary tract infection, wouldn't the peeing be more consistent? It's only happened 5 pr 6 times, with several days or weeks (or months, from first to second time) between occurrances, but the last two are within the last two weeks.
My roommate believes it's behavioural and plans to get rid of her this weekend (she's technically his cat). I need insight fast!
