My cat Snuggles has always been a good girl, normally when she gets up on counters and we yell at her she'll jump down and stay down, or she'll get back up and look around and jump down when she realizes there isn't any food sitting out for her to eat.
But lately she has gotten really bad, despite being constantly scolded and being yelled at she keeps jumping up on the counters when she thinks no one is looking even if the dishes are clean and she'll dig at the trashcan lid trying to get inside it.
The other day my mom came into the kitchen to find she had gotten the bread down off the table, had torn a hole in it and was pulling pieces of bread out and eating them so my mom scolded her, put her outside and put the bread in the microwave so she couldn't get to it.
And just today (November 4, 2013) I heard a noise in the kitchen like boxes and bags being moved, if you stand up from the couch you can see the trashcan in the kitchen, so I stood up and looked, but she wasn't on it, I was about to sit back down when something in my head said, "Go check."
So I went in the kitchen and she had gotten on the table and after failing to get into the cereal boxes she got onto the microwave and pulled our soft taco shells off the toaster and tore a hole in it and was eating them.
She's acting like she has to hunt and scavenge for food because she has none and is starving or something, but we leave bowls of cat food out in plain sight 24/7 for her and the other cats and we refill it when it starts to get low.
Whenever we put her out to get fresh air and to go potty since she doesn't use the letterbox she'll get on top of the window air conditioner unit and meow when she's ready to come back in since she's used to being inside. We can't leave her outside because we can't afford to get her spayed.
My mom is trying to get my brother to come get her and take her to the pound which is sad because they'll put her to sleep, but what else can we do? Do all cats act like this, what can we do to stop it?
