My Fiance and I have a second cat named gravy, every time we go to use the bathroom he usually follows us and stands at the door and looks the other way. Is he protecting us? And does anyone else have a cat who does it? (Only photo I could get, bear with me lol) 20240315_135024.jpg

I've never had a cat who didn't do this!
Yep, he's protecting you while you are vulnerable.
Ghost and Magnus prefer to 'go' where we are too and will choose the closest litter box.
Cal spent his babyhood in a busyier home and likes to choose the quietest box now. (5 siblings, plus mom and some RCS at his fosters lovely home)

Sitting guarding you is a good thing! And more subtle than my two ... when they're not synchronising by using the litter while I'm at the loo, they're sitting on the laundry basket (which is right beside the toilet) watching me, or in Phoebe's case, jumping onto my lap, climbing up to my shoulder, and demanding cuddles while washing my face!
