Is my kitten a true Russian Siberian?

Hello,

I adopted a kitten earlier today from a breeder and was so excited that I didn't pay much attention to the fur. His back is very brittle but everywhere else is soft, and he is 12 weeks old. They showed me the mother and she didn't have long fur like a typical Russian Siberian and I don't know if it's a genetic defect if I'm going crazy.

This is my other cat I have. The first picture is of him when he was 12 weeks old and he's 4 years old now.

Just to tell you 12 years ago we adopted two ragdoll kittens at 8 weeks old their hair was the same looking, who knew they would grow into the most wonderful fur I have ever seen!! Its just kitten fur no worries.. and your kitty is so cute! best of luck
