Is Hartz ear solution safe to use on cats?

I was considering buying this product, therefore I'd like to know if anyone has used this product in the past and what their experiences were!

I bought it once a few ears ago and didn't find it made a difference. It didn't harm my cat, but I also found it didn't help keep his ears clean either.

In the end, I picked up an ear solution from the vet for $8...
