Intermittent carpet pooping

Hi guys new to forum so a big hi to everyone.
Right let's get to it all views welcome please. My big Maine coon died recently 15 years old so I bought some new kittens. One is doing absolutely brilliant. He's eating pooing in all the right places or one of the many cat litter trays. However His little sister is not doing so well eats and drinks well she's definitely got and appetite. She is small but she runs around with him about 10-11 weeks old now 12 at a push she uses cat box with catsan white litter. And for days when she came to love with me. She use to poo everywhere it was like a poop machine. Now I get a whole day no problems pooing in the box then suddenly poo on the carpet. More than once a day. I have no Idea why I have no kids I love alone I don't make a lot of noise I love like a monk very quiet. Can anyone advise a course of action please as states all views welcome. Do I have to put her in one room by herself until she learns what happens to socialising which her brother. Anything would be helpful please.

How frustrating for you! Have the kittens been to the vet yet? Tummy upsets can cause things like this. Intestinal parasites are the most frequent culprit. However, until then, I'd suggest ordering a good enzymatic cleaner. They are readily available though almost any retailer that sells pet supplies. Clean ANY spot where your little girl has pooped thoroughly with it. YOU may not be able to smell that spot, but SHE can, and will be attracted back to it whenever the litter box just feels too far away! In fact, that might solve the issue, entirely!

Ditto on the welcome! Also, my condolences to you for the recent loss of your 15yo.

All kittens/cats are different, so one may be fine in some areas where another is not. How many litter boxes do you have and is there at least one nearby where ever she is? Does she readily pee in the litter box(es) despite what she does when she poops?
There are some cats that don't like to use the same litter box to pee and poop in. Others don't like to pee or poop in a litter box that already has something in it. So, do some testing with the boxes, their placement, and the scooping of them.

She may also grow out of it - she is still pretty young!

Ok thank you Mamanyt1953 & freebysOwner. I thank you both for those replies. Firstly I should explain I am disabled and retired. I'm here most days 24/7. I go out shopping and back. I have to tell you no they haven't been to the vets I've had them a week and a half two weeks tops.

The cat boxes all 4 have the following 2 have catsan the little white rocks which the male kitten jack uses no problems he's a great wee guy and extremely funny. The wee lass Luna is tiny his sister and seems pardon the expression a bit slow. I have as states 4 cat boxes the two above and the other two are filled with a fine sand litter. Which Luna uses to pee no probs what so ever. I have a box in living room while there young I will remove this when the get older. It's less and I'm being honest here it's less than a foot where she poos.

It's so frustrating so I put her in box and and clean up I have a pet stains removed if your in the UK you can buy it most shops comes with a brush so I normally clean the poop. Use the brush and clean then remove foam with tea towels and spray with Dettol spray use a scrubbing brush and that's about it dry off with more paper towel pressing not rubbing. She doesn't normally go back to the spots I clean trust me I'm a clean freak as my carer would say. It's a shame because she gets most things ok. I'll move one of the sand boxes she likes in to living room. And as you say experiment with positions for boxes.

I won't lie through this is killing me so much I can barely move some days my spine is shot to hell and the NHS refused to fix as it's not NHS policy to repair such spinal problems after you've had it two years or more. Let's hope this wee one sorts herself out

I really think she will, she is just a baby and has to learn. Maybe change one of the boxes out to a different litter and see how she does. She amy not like the litter for pooping. Some cats are very picky that way. Make sure you are using a cat urine REMOVER, it has enzymes that actually destroy odors and urine. It may be as simple as she can't make it to a box yet, she is too busy exploring and being a kitten. I am pretty sure all this will change as she gets older. If changing one box out doesn't help, it would be beneficial to confine her to a smaller area until she learns to use teh litter box. I hope you don't have to do thsi, she will miss her brother. you could confine tehm both and let tehm out when you can watch them Good luck!

If she always poops close to one of the boxes, you could buy puppy pee pads and lay then on the floor around the box. With any luck, she'll poop on the pad and then you can just pick it up, toss it, and lay down a new one.

She is a bit young, so I am guessing mom-cat didn't finish teaching her. That's why her potty habits are unreliable. Many places keep cats until 12 weeks now to lower the risk of "behavioural" problems like this.

Did you change their food since you got them or are they eating the same food they were on before?

yes i have bought ever kitten food i can in the normal stores asda tesco sainsburys morrisions etc she has gotten better since i first posted this. I hope i haven't just jinxed myself she been very good the past few days and i have been praising the good wee girl and i have move the hoods of the two big litter boxes the smaller kitten litter boxes i have put in different places around the house. so i'm working on it. i hope this works i thank you for your advise and ill try make sure to do that

Sometimes a change of food can cause them to go outside the box too.
