I have been caring for feral/barn cats for the past 18 years. Recently an approximately 6 month old half starved kitten showed up. I have been feeding him twice daily. Still have to get him shots and neutered. He has gained weigth and have have so far given two doses of worming meds. But his appetite has not decreased. He eats at least double the amount of all the other cats. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi! Welcome!!

Keep feeding him as much as he'll eat. Not only is he making up for lost time, at 6 months he is still in major growth mode and needs a lot of nutrients. If you aren't already, you could add in unflavored Pedialyte and kitten milk replacer, and even some kitten glop. Here are a couple of home-made recipes;

I agree he needs the food, poor thing. He may also need worming.

At his age, as well, he really should be eating three times a day. Part of this may be that he's just VERY hungry due to the time between meals. You really can't overfeed a kitten that age...or, at least, not unintentionally!
