I posted awhile ago about leaving my cats with the woman who originally fostered Henri before I adopted her. My only reservation is that she suggested we meet at a place between our two houses, so I don't know where she lives.
I decided there could be good reasons for that, so I left my cats with her while I left town for a week. I spoke with her a couple of times via email while I was gone, and she said everything was going great and that her family just adored my cats. I let her know I would be returning on Saturday and she said she would be looking forward to seeing me again.
I had some car trouble Saturday morning, so I was going to get home later than expected. I called and left a message with her daughter (she's 10) but I don't think it got to her. By the time I got into town it was too late to try and call again, so I emailed her. Then I called Sunday morning and left a message on her voicemail. I know it was mother's day so I figured she would be busy, so rather than calling again later in the day I sent another email.
I have not heard anything from her since Thursday night of last week, and she is not returning my calls or emails. I suppose more could go wrong with the phone (someone else got the message and forgot to give it to her, etc) so I am reluctant to call more often or be more aggressive. This woman has just done me a huge favor.
However, I really want my cats back and I am starting to get really worried. I plan on calling again in a couple of hours, but if I don't hear from her I don't know what to do. I have the number of the rescue organization that she works for, but other than that I have no other way of getting in touch with her than the things I've tried already. Any ideas? consolations? tell me I'm crazy please. There is no reason anyone would want to steal my animals, I'm sure of it. I just want them back with me!
