In the process of moving from So. CA to So. WI!!
Definitely go see the white tigers!!!
They are magnificent.

I would suggest going to see the Fremont Experience too, it's pretty cool.

Also, there used to be a pirate ship show in front of Treasure Island, but I have no idea if they still do it...I was there over 11 years ago.

Let's see...there are some factories...the Ocean Spray factory if you like cranberries...I think there's an M&M place, & Jelly Belly Jelly Beans too.

For a simple little treat, we used to go to Joker's Wild Casino in Henderson. They had a small laser show, that had some water stuff & a little mountain type scene. It's free. Again, I don't know if it's still there or not though.

Some of the places are just so cool to be in...the atmosphere in themed Casinos like The Luxor, Excalibur, Caesar's Palace are great.

I can't think of anything else right now, sorry that some I listed aren't rock solid either.
Hope you have a great time anyway, & post some photos when you get back!!

Oh I agree. I definitely quit while I'm ahead. My husband is the one who doesn't. However he usually listens to me when I tell him to quit, so maybe I can have him get gambling out of his system while I'm there with him.

I agree with many others here that you can just walk in and out of all the nice hotels - they're pretty amazing, air-conditioned, and is a good way to see The Strip and spend some time. As far as gambling, the stakes tend to be higher on The Strip - especially on weekends - so if you guys want to play lower stakes table games you'll need to go to "old Vegas" in the Fremont area.

It used to be that if you signed up for the hotels' gambling players' clubs you'd get lots of free coupons and great discounts. It seems that has lessened over the years, but still a good way to get some discounts!

The Bellagio has the music-timed water show, which is free and giant outside their casino. They also have a large shopping area with really high end stores. Good for window shopping, but that's about if you're on a budget!
However, the inside is beautiful and absolutely worth seeing. Usually they have a seasonal display that is amazing.

The Wynn is on the same scale and worth a fun walk around. They actually have a Ferrari dealership IN the hotel and you can check out the cars up close and personal.

The Mirage has a volcano that erupts periodically, in addition to the Sigfried and Roy tigers. You can see some of the animals for free; others you'll have to pay for (mentioned by someone else previously).

Personally, I would say skip the free show outside of Treasure Island (aka TI). It's called Sirens now and is no longer really a "pirate" show. It used to be cooler, but now it's just skimpy women dancing around and lip synching. Also avoid it if you have claustrophobia or anxiety issues - it can get PACKED outside the building for the show. Last time I was there I went into full-blown attack and that has NEVER happened to me before. I was totally penned into the crowd and apparently it freaked me out!

MGM Grand has the free lion exhibit. Fun to walk in there and look at the big cats.

Paris has some good eateries and if you want to spend the money you can go up the Eiffel Tower. I've heard mixed reviews on whether it's worth the cost or not.

The Venetian is also really cool. Again, lots of shopping - check out the "sky" in the hotel.

You are in luck with Caesars - they have an INCREDIBLE shopping plaza. You could easily walk around there all day. The last time I was there I saw Pete Rose, the baseball player famous for lots of things
, signing autographs at the sports store.

WHEW. There is SO MUCH MORE that I can't even begin to get into. You'll see when you get there. Make use of the free people-movers when you can between hotels. And take water with you when you go walking - you will definitely need it!

Have a great time! I love Vegas!

We stayed at Bally's which is right across the street from Bellagio. It was great as it is right on the strip mixed in with all the really swanky hotels, but was not at the top of the charts. I think it's one of the older/originial hotels on the strip.

We got a great deal on the price (about $100/night) since July is "off season" and we were there from Tuesday-Friday. I definitely recommend it if it's within the budget.

We went down to old Vegas and saw the Freemont Experience. That was so cool! I thought the casinos down there were neat too, very different from the big ones further up the strip!

So...what are some things I or we should definitely see or do??? Also, ideas on saving money would be great! I have been working a lot of overtime lately so that should help.

I have been there many times lots of shows to see, lots of good food, very crowded now more then it used to be..
And back away from the slot Machines
Take your money out of your left pocket and put it in your right pocket...Enjoy it's crazy there

Oh - I forgot about the Freemont St Experience - definately go see that - amazing and you can catch a bus right down there.

We have stayed at the Imperial Palace - centre strip, but older hotel with some of the cheaper tables to play - and we have stayed at the Monte Carlo - lovely hotel, definately recommend, not overly swanky but really nice

I just went to Vegas under similar circumstances... we went to see Elton John, The Bodies Exhibit, and Zumanity (Cirque de Solei's burlesque/cabaret show... it was great if you're not the prudish type! I highly recommend it.)

They had a show of trained cats, too... but we couldn't go because of our flight home. Yes, you read that correctly... trained cats. Like dogs are trained. In a show... on a stage. I find the idea interesting to say the least!

I didn't have much time either... but be sure to leave a couple evenings to go walking around the casinos and experiencing casino nightlife and fine dining. I only gambled $3. I saved my money for food and alcohol!

Two of my friends have seen Zumanity and recommended it. I think we'll try to go if we can.

Do you remember what the show of trained cats is called? I'd love to find out more about it!

I am not a city girl so when I went to Vegas I didn't really think it was as great as some other people do. I also didn't have a lot of money so that put a damper on things...LOL....
I recommend seeing ALL the outdoor free shows, such as Sirens of TI, and the water fountain show at Bellagio. They are both awesome. You also MUST go into the Bellagio hotel and see their flower garden and blown glass display. It's absolutaly amazing. A gambling tip: I heard for some reason to use the slots just inside the front door to whatever hotel you're going into. Supposedly they get the most people playing them since they'r right inside, and twice I won on those. Once $300 and once $600. Not sure if it's true but it worked for me!

If you go into places late enough they don't have cover. Tangerine was kinda neat, those burlesque (?) dancers are fun to watch, and there's one hotel with a lion exhibit which is kinda cool. I hear the shark exhibit is cool too but Mandalay Bay is a HUGE hotel to walk through, make sure you know where you're going first!
Also, take the bus as much as possible, buy a pass. Your feet will thank you!!!

I'd rather try sports-betting on a Tennis game, sounds like better success

I liked seeing the big kitties (lions) at the MGM Grand. The stratosphere was fun, eventhough I'm afraid of heights (granted, I wouldn't go near the edge of the observation deck). Ignore the creeps handing out smut on the corners...I got irritated by the sound of them smacking the cards on their hands, but I just avoided eye-contact.

There's lots of other fun things to do (lots of shopping)...it's a cool town.
