My 11 year old Sesame was just diagnosed with IBD, after several weeks and $1000 in tests thinking he had lymphoma. The vet says we need to put him back on steroids (he was on pred for years because of asthma, which he eventually outgrew), and change his diet. Since we have three cats, all with different needs, and two very busy work schedules, we typically end up doing free-feeding with dry food, all the same for all the cats.
So, my question is this:
Being fully aware that wet food and raw food are better and yes I know in a perfect world that would be happening, what kind of dry food would you recommend? The vet said that the food should be:
1) Grain-free
2) Limited Ingredient
3) have only Duck, Rabbit, or Venison
She doesn't want him on Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, Tuna, etc, as he's had all those and she wants to make sure whatever we're feeding him is completely new. She recommended a prescription one, but it was $63 for 8lbs and my cats will blow through that in no time.
