i'll bet a shelter would be glad to get it!

If I lived closer I'd take you up on that. My guys really like it and are doing well on it. It's about the only food my cats seem to digest well and they both eat it.

I have been advised to use Iams/Euk by several who show cats and I had tried all the "best" brands that gave my cat the disgusting poop & digestive issues until I had enough...switched her to Iams (hairball and kitten mix)...and no more issues!

I seriously think we all should just use what suits our cat the best...and that may not be the most expensive high quality brands in all cases. I wasted alot of money and did alot of cleaning up after the kitty learning that one.

My cats had nice firm non stinky poo on Iams and had copious stinky poo on some of the "premium" brands. Some cats are just going to do a lot better on less premium brands. They aren't on Iams anymore, but I'm thinking about going back to it.....I just recently bought a new bag of the dry food I've been feeding my cats and now they have sticky poo.Its sticking to their back legs/hair. So,its not from a new brand, just a new bag.At least that is all I can trace it to. Ugh.

I hate to see people saying that they have their cats on purina(or Iams,or whatever)and that their cats are doing well and then have someone else tell them how horrible that food is and that THEY only feed their babies"the best". It really makes the other person feel like they don't care about their cats. It can be hurtful. Cats have lived well for Years on purina, iams, science diet, etc and done just fine. Sometimes those premium foods are just too rich.
I could do with a little less "horrible food, only uncaring pet owners would feed that" comments, truthfully. You can inform without insulting......
I think middle of the road food is just fine if your cat is doing just fine! Plus I give up trying to feed wet. They barely touch any of it. I just keep out plenty of fresh water. SO FAR(knock on wood) I've never had a cat have kidney problems/urinary problems on just dry food.

BTW, I am NOT thinking of anyone specific regarding my comments above.just the overall "tone" I'm feeling.

i know whatcha mean. ive tried feeding my kitties numerous foods over the years mainly due to patchy's allergies and EXTREME pickiness only to end up with friskies wet and dry being the only thing she will eat (with the exception of the old iams) and ive been criticized for it and it does hurt feelings but i try to take it with a grain of salt because they dont live with patch and know how she is lol (i kept trying to tell the vet she wouldnt eat her prescription food so he gave her some and she kicked it off the table. he gave her some more and she poo'd on it. forreals) ...but i digress

courtney, that is SO FUNNY about your cat kicking the prescription food off the table in front of the vet...priceless. i can just imagine the look on the vets face. Cats sure do tell us what they think, don't they?????

yes they do! thats why i <3 them so much!!
ive had cats my entire life but NEVER have i had a cat with an attitude like patchy's. the bad thing about it was, the vet had brought everybody in the office in to see how well-behaved chloe and patch were while they got their shots. he thought it was hilarious, too, though

I totally agree.

We've tried about every food out there. And yet the guys prefer Iams dry and Friskies/FF wet. They do well on it. I've wasted I don't know how much money trying some of the "best" foods out there.
I have fed several different types of foods over the years, but my cats do best on the "middle of the road" type foods (usually chicken based).

My cats are healthy and our vet didn't say anything about the food I'm feeding (she is a cat specialist). So I think my cats are just fine.

My cat ate Iams and Eukanuba dry foods for eight years, and he was always fine. One day, my best friend convinced me that by-products were the devil and recommended a different brand. So I switched to said different brand, and had a horrible experience. A few months later, I tried another super premium brand...again, GI issues. I made one more effort a couple months later, but he didn't like the taste of that one. That was it for us! Wally does well on Iams/Euk (we're currently doing Euk).
He actually has no issues with corn, whereas foods containing more digestible grains cause issues.
I do try to feed higher quality wet food, but that's just me- if Friskies works for your cat, I wouldn't advise changing it.

My cats have been on Eukanuba for 7 months and they are doing great! By-products have and still are getting a bad rap. Which I cannot understand for the life of me. They are very healthy and nutritious for cats. But it seems the majority of people prefer to feed their cats glutens, vegetables, and fruits even though cats cannot synthesize many of the nutrients in those. Iams/Eukanuba are still considered a premium brand by many in the Cat Fancy.

There are about double that amount that will consider them grocery level or below...
.. If we truly were feeding cats the way they would eat we would all be DOING raw:_)

Having a cat get a bacterial infection once was enough for me to feel the risk of feeding raw is not worth it.

I do not agree with you that double the people feel Iams/Eukanuba is not a premium food. Iams/Eukanuba may not be popular on this list but in the general public, fanciers, and Veterinary Nutritionists many consider Iams/Eukanuba premium.

Amazingly that was true ten or so yrs ago... but like with human nutrition even vets are learning and researching.... Only one out of 20 in my area recommends it .... why well

As you even state ALL feedings have risks ...
