I found this site after hours of research. I lost the actual thread that talked about what my issue is. My cat is slowly losing weight and he has trouble eating. He can't chew right and seems to be in mouth pain. We have tested him for renal issues , he has had blood work all good we had his teeth cleaned and they really don't know what it is. He keeps losing weight and people say it's kidney desease then there's lymphoma I don't know what to do or where to start I am feeding everything and anything to keep him from losing more weight has anyone experienced this that can offer advice on how not to waste time ?

The best thing for you to do would be to get him to a specialist in internal medicine.
Have they checked his thryroid? There really shouldn't be a question if he has renal disease. He either has it or not. It would be tested with a blood test and urinalysis and maybe ultrasound. Lymphoma is more difficult to diagnose, and biopsy should be done to know for sure. There are also many different areas that can be affected by lymphoma. Have the vets said what they are thinking?

I hope your cat is doing better soon.

You dont say how old your cat is. The fact that he is having difficulty eating suggests he is not getting enough food and would therefore lose weight.
Can you get a second opinion especially regarding the mouth, see if he is favouring one side to eat over the other.

Hi. A vet that specializes in dentistry, or at least an internal medicine vet, might be a good idea - just to double check, as mentioned above, his mouth and to look over the blood work results you had done. Renal disease isn't likely to impact him being able to eat properly. And I don't see his eating issue as necessarily being connected to lymphoma either. Most vets have specialty groups that they know of and can refer you to - ask your vet about what groups they are aware of. If not, then search the internet for vet specialty groups in your area.

In the meantime, see if you can get your vet to give you some gabapentin for possible pain - it might take a couple of days to start to show results. And buy some cans of Hill's Restorative Care A/D canned cat food. It is soft food so that might help, it is loaded with calories, and many cats seem to like the taste. Most vets sell this food in their offices. You can also buy some baby food meat - Gerber Stage 2 or Beechnut - very easy for a cat to eat and they seem to like the taste of these too. Depending on what type/meat you buy a jar can contain as many as 90 calories.
