Plenty of good vibes for you!!! It infuriates me when someone presses the "patriotic" button as a means of defense...opposed to the war?...you're "unpatriotic"...disagree with the president?...."unpatriotic". The ugly stepsister of this is labeling someone "anti-soldier". I think you would be hardpressed to find someone actually "anti-soldier", but it's an effective weapon used to shut people up! My dad was career Army, (I grew up an Army brat) and I know he would be sickened to hear about them closing ranks around this guy!
I'm glad you're feeling better, Amy. I am curious how the commander even knew that you checked to see if the abusive soldier went to the required group session? You would think that whomever (whoever ?) is in charge of that group would be cooperating with your office.Originally Posted by ugaimes
I talked to my program manager yesterday. He is so cool. He told me that my sup, LaVerne, should not have told me that she was "worried about my job" the way she did yesterday morning. He said that the CSM has cooled down greatly and is not as angry now. Johnny (my program manager) told him to please chalk it up as a learning experience on my part. So hopefully (hopefully) things will blow over....but please keep the vibes coming just in case.
Thank you again, everyone, for being so sweet!
Renee, you did the right thing, no matter what that dumb director said. That kid had a RIGHT to get help. Sounds like the director had a bug up her a$$ or something!Originally Posted by Rockcat
I worked at a youth services a long time ago. One of the things that took the air out of my sail was I got in trouble for giving a kid a 1-800 number to call to report abuse. She told me that she was afraid of her father and that he had been abusing her. Our office was only open M-F and we did some limited family counseling, but didn't have anyone who specifically dealt with abuse cases. It turned out that her father was a "prominent member of the community." The director of Youth Services told me that I had no right to give her that number!!! :censor::censor::censor:?
You got that right!Originally Posted by Rockcat
Anyway, moral of the story: If the abuser doesn't kill you, the red tape might.
