Dusty went out early this morning without eating, and she hasn't come back all day.
Dusty was a content only kitty for the past 4 1/2 years since she first adopted us by deciding to live on our patio furniture. She has been the best kitty, and we love her.
About a month ago we accepted a second kitty, a very active kitten. Dusty hasn't been thrilled with the new addition, but she seems to be passively tolerating her most of the time, except when Squeak gets too close.
Until we got Squeak, Dusty would always spend her days sleeping on our patio furniture. But for the past week or so Dusty wants out in the morning and isn't on our patio like normal. I don't know where she goes, but she usually comes back during the day to eat. This morning she didn't eat before she went out, and she hasn't been back all day. I'm worried sick.
Now I'm having second thoughts about adopting Squeak and wonder if we should keep her. I don't want Dusty to feel unwelcome here, since she came here first. But in the last 4 weeks of having Squeak, we've also become attached to her.
I don't know what to do, and if anything happens to Dusty, I'll never forgive myself.
