I have had LittleFoot for almost 11 years now and his marking is getting worse if that is possible. I
am at my witts end

I have taken him to the vet several times, and had him tested for all sorts of non-existent problems

I have tried felway and all the other brands of cat soothing crap to a high cost of dollars.

I have tried card boarding all the windows in a house with at lease 25 windows.  People think I am crazy

I have tried soothing music

I have tried taking the cat outside on a leash to give him the opportunity to mark outside

I have contacted a kitty socialist at UC Davis and they want 500 dollars per hour to spend time with him.

My own vet has no ideas on how I can help this cat.

I have used every marketable thing to clean his urine markings.  Counter tops I started to steam it every day to keep the kitchen where I think it is safe to use for food.  Also the cabinets and cupboards.

The rugs in the house are destroyed and several pieces of good furniture.  I have never hit my cat I don't believe in it.  If I catch him I scold him and put him in the garage for a time out.

I won't toss him outside to live or in the garage,

I have watched him go to the bathroom and he does not use his pee pee.  He uses his anus all the time, even in a little box.

I wont' give him away! He is part of this family.  There just has to be someone that has had this problem and knows what to do.

I had a friend who had a female like this who puddled all the time. She had her put to sleep :(

Will take good suggestions.  I have bought and read all sorts of books on behavioral problems and tried what they have suggested.

I clean up what I can see everyday but he has gotten so out of control.

Is he neutered (castrated)? I'm sure he is but just making sure. Also, have you noticed any triggers, or does he just seem to do it for no reason?

Of course nobody can urinate from their anus :). But in cats the urinary opening is very close to the anus. Do you mean he stands up to pee all the time? What kind of litterbox do you have? What kind of litter?

Yes he is neutered!   If I could find the trigger I could maybe fix it... Good thought though

We have 6 cats in the home and 10 kitty boxes that are cleaned once a day.  Some litter boxes are covered, some are very large, I have gone through several types of litter.  When he starts to go pee he will start crouched and end up standing shaking his tail.  And yes cats can release from their anal glands

Sometimes he does it looking straight at us, as if daring us to do something about it.. Other times he does his marking on the counter late at night or when no one is looking.  He uses the kitty box also but even then he uses his anus ;(  not his peepee

He goes to the vet at least once a year and two or three times a year when he has his teeth cleaned.  Someone told me to put him on Xanax but I don't think that is right.  He spends most of his day & night sleeping like a normal cat but, when he is awake he seems nervous.  He is attached to me at the hip.  I give him lots of love and attention.  I am not sure where to go with this, maybe I did it all wrong and should give him no attention and push him away from me.

I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYMORE

A cat cannot pee from its anus.  It is not possible.  They can mark with anal sacs(strong non pee odor and the stuff is slimy that comes out).  If you think your cat is peeing from his anus please discuss this with your vet.

I think the other issue is this was a problem 5 years ago or so.  If no medical reason and it is behavior(which I imangine or it would have killed/made him weak by now).

Have you tried putting him in a room of his own.  He may just hate other cats in his space.

I think I said anal glands, I might be confused.  It is a nasty thick liquid that you can't mistake for regular pee.  My husband says he has to release his urine in the normal way.

He can open doors with handles so  we put a round nob handle on our guest room and put him in there.  He howled and scratched at the door for what seemed like hours.  He marked the room so bad I am still trying to get the smell and stains out of the carpet and off the furniture.

Yes, this has been a problem for many many years but it is getting worse.  So I guess there is nothing anyone can say to help me with this issue.  My husband said, he is the way he is and I had to live with it or get rid of him.

Ok that sounds right then.  Since it has been going on have you ever discussed removing the anal sacs?  Yes there are risks and he is older but if he lives to 20 this will be forever an issue.  It seems you are at end of rope and this could work out nicely.  Ask the vet.  I can not imangine this never came up as a solution and feel so sorry to hear.

I have never heard of a cat marking with his anal sacs! Weird! All I know about is urine spraying. . .:tongue2:. But, yeah, ask the vet about removing his anal sacs.

I always thought that was where the spray/territory marking scent came from and why it was stinkier than regular urine?

Stinky urine is just a males cat smell if not neutered.  The other stuff also can dispense when the cat is afraid(at vets/car ride)  Lol I was taking a few males who were about 1 1/2 and they were just a mess when we got a few miles to clinic.  I lucked at knowing that there was a good chance I put bags all around carriers/blanket over everything

I have a few sprayers (spayed/neutered, of course) and it's not any smellier than urine that comes out when they're squatting. Only tomcats have smellier spray because of their hormones.

I once had a stray who would blow her glands whenever the other cats had her cornered, but I didn't really know they could express them a little at a time whenever they wanted.
