So there is this stray cat that takes refuge in my garage, she's a cute thing, but something has me very worried. :(

She came to the garage limping. Her front paw was curled and she was staying off it. She could not stop meowing, she seems to be in pain. I got her to calm down and lie in her bed, but I'm really worried.

She hasn't moved from that spot, and this whole time she has been breathing really heavy and all this time leg/arm is hurting on her. I can tell because I picked her up and it just dangled there. She's not really combative, but she is scared.

She's not really my cat and I can't spend any money on her for a vet. :( So what do you all think? Should I wait it out and see if it heals, or should I just take her to the local shelter to be put down. :'(

I really don't want to take her to the shelter, she's very kind and has been through so much with my family.

I named her Hope just for everyone to know.

She's in pain so she needs treatment.  Call a vet and ask if they give a special rate for strays and if yes, you can get a written estimate before doing the work.  You can also ask if there are no kill shelters that may care for her.  And do you have any friends or relatives willing to help pay and/or adopt the cat?

I wish I could find a vet for her, but I have no funds for her sadly. :( I could look around for a shelter like that then because my family really doesn't have any animals they don't like caring for them either.

Where are you located? They're stretched pretty tight with kitten season, but try reaching out to local cat rescues. If they have someone willing to drive, they may even be able to come and pick her up. If you want to keep her because you've bonded with her, it will be your responsibility to ensure she is well-cared for. If you don't have the funds or the means otherwise, the best thing you can do for her is find someone who can afford the care.

No-kill humane societies, cat rescues... If you can't Google them, check PetFinder for organizations that may be in your area. Ask about payment plans vets can offer - some will ask for the lump sum upon treatment, and some will allow you to stagger payments over a longer period of time. If no one in your family is willing to help out, unfortunately it does sound like you're on your own if you want to keep her.

Various members have given you a variety of ways of helping this cat that don't involve your own money.  You posted on here presumably because you want some advice.  No one is going to advise you that keeping this cat in pain is the right thing to do.

Some vets may even accept the cat for treatment and adoption if you give them custody.  My vet has done this.  But you won't find someone to help the cat online, you have to start calling places and people. Call local vets. Google them. Google local rescue groups, humane societies, local SPCA's etc. The cat's leg may be broken you must not allow this to continue.

Yeah, I would seriously consider dropping her off at a vet's or a shelter and walking away if you had to.  To be frank, right now she's prey for a predator.  Even if it came down to euthanasia, that's a much more kind death than however she broke her leg in the first place.

Even if our own members can't physically get to you to help, we can help you find some resources that may offer more assistance!

This page also posted some information about a vet that does low-cost speuters for some animals. Since they work with a rescue, if they're close enough to you, you can try calling them and seeing if they'll see an injured cat at a reduced fee:
Orchard Animal Clinic
1959 S 4130 W, Suite K
Salt Lake City, UT 84104
(801) 886-1770

** Offers low cost spay and neuter for cats, male dogs, and female puppies under three months of age only. Holistic. Feral cat specialist. Need to call and make appointment before going to the clinic
Good luck!
