Heyyy! Brand new here, and have already been saved by y'all on one of the forums❤

I'm Kelly and I live near Dallas, TX with my husband, 3 kids (12yrs old, 10yrs old, and 4yrs old), 3 cats (5yrs old, and 9 months old x2), and a lone 11 year old dog.

Our eldest cat, Her Majesty Queen Ella, bonded with one of the kids immediately upon adoption as a kitten, and she has lived with that child since then. The only time I see the Queen is when I go up to my childs bedroom, or the rare times Her Majesty graces me with her presence elsewhere in the house (limited to when she needs something and her "person" is at school).

Our 2 youngest cats are a recently adopted brother/sister duo, who we lovingly refer to as "the fluffernutters" when together, or Alphie and Amelia when apart. Unless they are in trouble, in which case we use their full names, Sir Alfred the Eh-hole and Miss Amelia Bedelia, respectively.

In order to convince my husband that getting some kittens would be a great idea, I used my ADHD HYPERFOCUS™️, to create a literal presentation with the benefits of the cats for my mental health, as well as the happiness of the household and other benefits in general. Plus I threw in a cost breakdown for the first year of ownership.

As a slight aside, my husband is not a fan of more than a couple pets in general (no more than we can easily take care of), but he never made any comments saying he was against adding more pets at the time. I have anxiety. I had a conversation in my own head, by my own self, and decided he was absolutely against cats and that he needed to be convinced. So I made a presentation. Apparently it was a ton of wasted effort because, while he didn't really WANT more cats, he felt they would be a good addition to the family, especially for me since I'm staying home. I am an RN, however, I stopped working to stay home with the kiddos when their schools, daycare, etc. we're closed down every other week 🙃, and I kind of don't think a Nursing career is looking like too much fun right now.

Oh also, our old grandpa dog Ty (just Ty. He is famous and only has one name), is the sweetest dog ever, and he would REALLY like any of the cats to snuggle with him, but, alas, they will not.

Oh, the kids are pretty cool too.

Pics of the new cats (because they are the ones doing weird things all the time that I will probably have questions about) snuggled on dad's lap. Because for some reason, my cats are drawn to the one that "didn't really want them".

Welcome!!! Can’t wait to hear more about um. …Just so you know, cats are ALways drawn to the one that didn’t really want them. Who knows why? Thank you for all your hard work as an RN: in my opinion all of you deserve a statue when this is over! :clap2:

A true message in part. I have been a cat lover since being a child. My wife only since we have been married. One of my stipulations to marriage was that she must be tolerant of cats. We have had three cats together prior to our current two. They were Maine Coons. My wife was reluctant to try a different breed. I was more open minded to take this step. So I purchased both current Turkish Van's. Wouldn't you know that "Miles" the first kitten we got would be her "Darling". My wife has been head over heals for him since.
