My cat has just undergone an operation on his tail and to prevent in licking and undoing the bandages the vet has put him in a collar (a cone shaped one) However, he has discovered how to get out of it and I need to keep it on to prevent him hurting himself more any ideas?

I have seen these recommended before:
I have no experience with them but they are supposed to irritate kitty less than the cones so maybe he won't try so hard to get it off. I've actually never had a cat in a cone so can't recommend ways to keep the existing cone on him - maybe someone else has some ideas about that.
