How do I safely mark them so I can tell them apart especially since I need to weigh them everyday. Also since the mom is going to keep grooming them, what area is safe to mark?

This is just one example - Amazon.com: Take Your Mark Semi-Permanent Ink Skin Markers 4 Pack : Office Products. From what I have read before, you place the mark in the inside of the ear.
