So my kitten is 6 months old and I am not sure if she is in heat for sure but she meows a lot that she won't let us sleep. My mom also told me mittens has been trying to dash out the door and lastly she rubs on me. The bad thing is that I barely started working and won't get paid until 2-3 weeks. Is there any way I can help my kitten? Perhaps someway to help her stop meowing so much? Any advice helps, thank you!

Not sure where you are from. Do a search for pet fix or low cost spaying.

Pet fix here in NE has a portable surgical clinic and I know they hit the local shelter.

Yep, I'd say she's in heat for sure. Meowing a lot and trying to escape are pretty common symptoms. Not much you can do to make her feel better, it just needs to run its course. Make sure she doesn't get outside, and get her in to be spayed as soon as you can.

Oh yeah, you can bet she is in heat. Right age, all the signs, yep.

It could be worse, some carry on like mad, put their butts in the air constantly, and so on.

Lasts for a week, and it comes again 2 weeks after that!!

Nothing you can do, nature made it this way, just get her spayed asap and dont let her get out whatever you do, or she will need aborting. She is too young to have kittens, not to mention all the babies being euthanized at the shelters daily.

Poor girls! I am definitely getting her spayed. I borrowed money and I was just told to take the day off so I thought I could take her in today but she just ate ): now I have to wait until I am off again.

That is because when given anesthesia it will cause nausea and vomiting, which can also occur while she is still knocked out and can choke.

Can I bathe her a day or 2 before her surgery?

You can no problem.

After surgery you would want to wait a good week and a half or more before bathing so she is healed well.

Oh don't be nervous, it's the most common surgery a cat can have, and the vets have done it a million times :)

Whig about caring afterwards? Is there a high chance to get infected or open?

Infections can occur, but it's not an expected outcome. Check out the Cat Health forum. You should be able to find threads there that tell you how others have handled the post-spay care. Or you could start your own thread there to ask your questions.
