I'm an old fogey, too! Plus, I hate cell phones..
I'm trying to be the last person on the planet who has never owned one.

I use yahoo messenger on my cell phone when I am out of the house and I need to get in contact with someone. I also use it to text my husband if I don't feel like chatting with him.

gosh i txt all the time but we call it sms.

I sms Steph sometimes but she cant do it back to me because of some agreement between our countries telephone companies. Its stupid that she can recieve mine but I cant receive hers...

Chris & I would look at our bill at the end of the month and I would comment on how many sms's he has compared to mine (I always doubled him LOL ) and his response was - mine are all replying to yours

Yes, a LOT. Between Eric and me about 10-15 per day. It keeps me off personal calls at work and for him, too, out in the field or on protection jobs. We buy a pkg 500 for $7.99 - and since we live about 1 hr from town, no long distance calls home.

i text quite often...but they can add up quickly!!! I get like 200 a month for like $2.99 or something like that, and one month I exceeded that and had to pay an additional $15...haha!!! I guess i went a bit overboard that month.

Hey there I have been up to my eyeballs in tax returns and it's not over yet. Only 14 days and 17 minutes left
I just got the chance to get on here so I thought I would drop in

Yep, I text quite a bit. Either because I have a teenager therefore I text (as someone said above) or if hubby/daughter want to reach me at work but it's not urgent, they send a text and I can pick it up when I've finished teaching - unlike my students I don't keep the phone in the lecture room
.

It's cheaper than talking on my mobile.

I've used Texting for years, I have a deaf friend, and although she has an implant, it's easier to text her.

Also when the kids were at university and I didn't know where they'd be I'd text them to see if it was OK to ring for whatever reason. (I often still do that)

I can't be doing with all the short hand though. I write them as if I'm writing a note.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I received a text in the early hours of this morning for the first time from Danielle!!

Once she saw this thread she realised that she had my mobile number and tried it. Needless to say a few have went back and forth throughout the morning!!

We text each other for the silliest things such as my next door neighbour who tells me the kettles on for a coffee, or telling me to stick the kettle on!
