We have recently taken in a pregnant mama cat that was living outside of one of the houses that my boyfriend owns. No one claimed her and she kept trying to go into their house with very aggressive mastiffs. I have done the pregnant mama thing once before with a rescue that I work for and with. We knew with that one that birth was imminent (early stages of labor when we pulled her from a kill shelter) but this one has me unsure. I can very clearly feel the babies moving inside of her but she doesn't feel like she has any milk at all nor any discharge or warning signs she is close to the end. She will let me do pretty much anything to her except touch the bottom of her stomach so it is hands to get a closer look. I have also included pictures where you see her roundness. She seems to have doubled in size in the 48 hours that she has been inside. How close do you think that we are?
I want to take her to the vet to get her looked at, but I am torn on how much the benefits will outweigh the stress of transporting her and putting her through treatments. Is there any way to safely treat her fleas while she is pregnant?
