I was given a liquid med to give my cat twice a day for a week. What is the proper way to do this, from the side of the mouth? When I tried from the front she kept fighting me and it splashed everywhere.
You are so right. I was giving my (then 6 week old kittens) liquid meds. and there were 2 out of the bunch that were so strong!!! At 6 weeks old if anyone believes that!!!Originally Posted by hannahgirl
These ideas definitely helped. Thank you so much! Cats can be so STRONG when they don't want to let you do something, so being able to control them until they take their meds, is so important.
Thats exactly how i did Sophies meds once, and by the end of the week i was an expert at it!Originally Posted by CJandBilly
I sit on the floor, legs out in a "V." I take the cat, and put the cat between my legs, and close as can be, face facing away. I measure out the medicine, and hold it in my hand. Using my free hand, I grab under the cat's neck, gently, and keep one finger on top of the head, and hold the head still. I put the syringe/dropper up to the mouth, and as soon as the mouth opens, I drop it in, but still hold their head until they take the medicine.
Hope that helps!
