I have a 15 year old cat who had an acute episode of pancreatitis. He was hospitalized for two days and I have been nursing him back to health with multiple vet visits for fluids and vitamin B shots. He lost a few pounds and I am trying to help him gain the weight back. Any suggestions?

He might need to have an appetite stimulant and perhaps some anti-nausea meds if he is not wanting to eat much of anything. He may also need pain meds for a period of time too, as I understand acute pancreatitis can be painful - more so apparently than the chronic flare-ups that can happen down the road. I don't think pancreatitis is cleared up in just a matter of days.

If he is eating OK on his own, and you just want to increase his calories for a while, then you could try one of the high calorie nutritional gels, such as:
TOMLYN Nutri-Cal Gel High Calorie Supplement for Cats, 4.25-oz tube - Chewy.com
You can also see if there are any foods/treats that he will eat from this list of suggestions.
