How can you tell when a cat is underweight?

I have to take Molly into a specialist asap. I called the vet today because i haven't noticed her eating since Friday, and she's just laying around, not really moving, she's drinking, and going potty ok but thats about it. Not playing or notihng. I'm really worried about her. She is only 3 yrs old. Too young to die

Thanks! I'm just worried its going to cost ALOT of money and i will not be able to afford it
I just want Molly to feel better though.

Well last time when I had one of my other kitties at this same specialist for a Biopsy it was like $800.00

Will she drink a slushy mix of blended watered canned cat food, or eat baby food meat? You need to get something into her today...anything..boiled chicken, plain chicken broth to moisten her favorite canned cat food.

Fingers crossed for Molly.

She told me to force feed her. Which I did. She didn't really like it but she knew she had no choice
She will not even touch moist food

I agree, but didn't know if you had already done this with her...so, blended food via feeding syringe it is. Hang in there....as I head off to assist feed Patrick

Let her rest, and try giving less next time - if she can hold that, then just feed that smaller amount, more frequently (i.e. instead of 3-4 feedings try for 5 to 6).

I so know how frustrating this can be, and I know you are worried for her.

I don't know what you call a little bit. Best to call your vet then.

I use a 14 cc syringe and slowly give Patrick 4 of these per feeding.

I consider a small amount, 1/2 of a 2 oz. baby food jar

ohh yea i didn't even give her that much less than a 1/2 of a 2oz. baby jar.. she escape from me and hid under the bed and threw it up..

I am sorry it's just an icky time. If it were me, I'd wait an hour or so, see if she's holding down water and try one more time. Then call my vet.

You may feel more comfortable doing so now...please keep us posted, I am wishing you both all the best.

Well shes drinking water just fine she love water lol.. i did call the vat i am waiting to hear back from her.

Well I'm taking Molly into the specialist today in about 3 hours. She hasn't touch her food in a while. She drinks, the I noticed some poop on the floor so i think she's not going in the litterbox either. She's basically has just been laying in the same spot since last night when i got home from the vet with her. I'm really starting to worry about her
She used to be so playful..
