This is Teddie Bear. He is eight months old. He won't stop trying to nurse. On me! I, being a human, and not a mother cat, do not find this enjoyable. How do is discourage this behavior in the nicest way possible?

Hi, can you distract him with playing, or even something else to nurse on?

Hmm. Can you put something natural/bad tasting on a spot he's really going for?

Too bad they don't make kitty pacifiers. We have a cat that once in a great while will try doing that or at least that is what I think she is doing - I just scratch her back by the tail and she gets totally distracted and forgets about the nursing idea

He sees a nipple, or an outline of a nipple he goes for it. Purring away and making biscuits.

What would be considered bad tasting to a cat?

I've had cats who will suckle on a sherpa blanket. Not ideal bc those fibers aren't natural in any way, but might be better than you. As for a deterrent, maybe lemony or something tart? I'd say spicy but wouldn't want skin contact there. Or bitter?

His sister Samatha has never tried to nurse. She is a face licker. Before bed she gives me a bath.

You could try giving him a kitten bottle with some formula! KittenLadys rescue has a cat that ended up being adopted out with one as it went on for months longer than they expected him to. They wanted to let him wean of his own accord.

He and his sister are almost a year old now. I got him a blanket he likes to suckle on. That more or less did the trick.

Now he likes to groom me in the morning.
