Ok, So for the past 5 days i've been feeding and playing with this cat. He's a Domestic cat and a sweetheart towards me. One day I saw him across my street and decided to pet him I saw how skinny he was and I went back home to get food for him. Ever since he's been here every night to get a meal. While I was petting him this lady pulled up next to me telling me to be careful because he does bite and scratch while petting him although he hasn't bitten nor scratched me yet. I asked her if he belonged to someone because it concerned me how skinny he was and all she replied back was that his name was Toby. For the past 2 days iv'e let him inside of my house. It was pretty obvious he hasn't been in a house before, just a faucet running and he freaked out. Letting him in the house for the second day he didn't want to leave he seemed pretty comfy inside the house. Iv'e seen him around before but never really interacted with him. I did see him during the winter months which was a bit concerning because of how cold it was this winter. He's rarely is out during the day but when I do see him after school he tends to be in this one persons front yard and one time I saw this man on a chair as the cat sat next to him but again, I rarely see him outside during daylight. Looking closely at him his health isn't the best. He's skinny, has scabs on his face, dirty, has ear mites or an ear infection, his paws are covered in urine and scrapes and he twitches every 5 seconds mostly because of fleas. At this point I have no idea what to do. Should I ask neighbors if he belongs to anyone and confront them if he does or just take him to the vet, see what they say, or just take him to the vet as a stray. If he did have owners I doubt they would even notice he was gone. I wouldn't want to be stealing anyones cat but at the same time it's not like they care about him. He does have a bond with me yesterday as I was playing with him, my dad came out and he started grunting and ran away. He does have a fear of some humans. This cat isn't coming to my house for just food but for attention and a comfortable place to stay. I'm planning on letting him sleep inside tonight then sleeping outside on his own, this is when the coyotes come out not to mention I have woods in my backyard. What should I do?
