Our vet doesn't do dissolving stitches, so Lola has real stitches in her(from spaying). Any tips on how I can get the stitches out of her without having her seriously injure me? We usually take them out ourselves, but would it be better to take her to the vet? I don't want to do that because it usually sets her back as far as liking me....but this seems like either way she'll be really pissed. She has nail caps on, but she really can get a good grasp on you with her teeth. Dang it! I wish we could've gotten dissolving stitches!

BTW-Her stitches need to come out on Saturday.

Definitely the vet. Then you are the one who saves her from the vet, reinforcing that you are the good guy. Plus they check out that she healed ok. Let them know she might "freak", and maybe they can give her a mild sedative.

at my vet's, stitch removal is included in the price of the spay - i just bring 'em back & they take 'em out!
