We have a house phone, and little chance of getting rid of it any time soon. Our phone number is the same phone number DH grew up with. When his parents sold their house and gave up the number he called the phone company and got our number switched to it. (Without mentioning to me that he was going to do it first, I might add. Boy, was it a surprise the day I called home and found out my number had changed.
) He's WAY TOO attached to that phone number to give it up.

I would never give up my land-line phone (home phone), you never know when a cell tower could have problems, then you would be without a phone, I like having both in case one doesn't work for some reason, having a back up is always nice.

I have a landline only. And now that I know about 911 I am very thankful I do. I have used 911 in the past. I would like to have a prepaid cell for emergencies when I travel.
