This is good to know for a calorie counter like myself. May be safer to go with the average analysis since it seems to be higher.  I'm simply amazed at some of the calories of some of these foods.  The Weruva 5.5 ounce cans are roughly half of the calories of the Evo 5.5 ounce cans. The By Nature seems to be about 1/3 less calories per can.

I was pretty surprised. I knew there were differences in calories among different foods but I never knew there could be such a big difference.

Where are you that you are able to buy by Nature locally? I used to be able to get it here in Houston but, at least according to their web site, I can't anymore.

I'm in Pa, a little north of Philadelphia. There are a few stores somewhat close by that actually say they have it (I haven't been in there yet to see) and according to the By Nature website there are quite a few more options for me next time that I wasn't aware of, but I got this online and just had it shipped (I'm a very lazy shopper).

Are you asking what the difference is between guaranteed analysis and an average analysis?  If so, the guaranteed analysis is what is on the label and specifies minimum or maximum values as opposed to actual values. It allows the manufacturer to vary the composition of batches slightly without having to change the label. The average analysis is an average calculated across some number of batches and usually gives a more accurate indication of the food composition.

In my spreadsheet the foods I was able to find an average analysis for have a '*' in front of the name. I've emailed several manufacturers asking for the average analysis for their foods but have only heard back from Merrick.

Yes, kcal = calories.
What did you get from Merrick?  I  remember from the Janet & Binky chart  that  some of the original Merricks  have more protein and less fat ( and lower calories ) than many of the other 'premium' quality canned foods,  while still managing to be low carb or in some cases,  fairly low carb ( under 10% calories from carbohydrate) . For ex. Cowboy Cookout  or  Surf & Turf  .   or Grammy's Pot Pie.  But I know those numbers are from several years ago.   I would be very interested if you would share the information with me.

I   feed mostly Weruva and Merrick canned, along with some Nature's Variety Instinct raw.

They sent me the nutritional analysis for every one of their canned products. PM me an email and I'll forward it to you.

Their product is much the same as what I've seen of the other companies that offer 95%, or in Merrick's case '96%', "meat" products in that their regular line up looks a lot more appealing to me than what I would assume are supposed to be their "premium" line. The Merrick Cowboy Cookout does look good as does Grammy's Pot Pie and, as Laurie said, is included on the spreadsheet.

Thanks so much for that mschauer.  That's good to have.   I suspected those BG ones were higher fat.  I  do feed some of those too.

& thanks LDG I did somehow blindly manage to miss that link.
