basically you look through your friends profiles to see if you like any of their friends and then add them to your list.

all my friends have been using it to hook up and go on dates! lol

its addictive because you get people messging you asking if you want to be friends or meet up etc. and you can send each other tiny pictures messeges called '5's' saying things like 'cute', 'geek', 'cool' etc and write testimonials for each other.
