Well,
Hi everyone.
I'm a 21 year old genetics student from Aberdeen Maryland and I've come to this lovely forum to
read all about cats.
I'm rather embarrassed to say that some extended family members of mine wound up with their cat
becoming accidentally pregnant and now the care of the silly thing is now my responsibility.
I'm not new to animal husbandry at all, in fact I breed fancy mice for show, and have bred show finches before.
But I've never dealt with a pregnant cat. From what I hear, cats are different that my chosen animals xD
So, in any case I figured since forums tend to be stuffed full of information, I could join up and stuff my brain.
(and maybe make a few friends along the way.)
I took the mother-to-be to the vet and they said she's healthy and developing fine.
So that's good at least. I know fishyface(that's the poor cat's name)
is a calico, not sure which kind though. She has both large patches of color and spatterings.
I know the lady who we got her from, and this cat's siblings include tuxedo, seal pointed, flame pointed,
black (do you call them selfs here?). They even had a lovely little pointed cat who had tortie-like white splotches over her points.
I feel so silly. If we were talking about mice I'd be able to say the colors effortlessly, but with cats *throws up hands*
I'm not new to having cats as pets either, but this whole pregnancy thing is new.
