and I was brought here because the newest addition to my list of obsessions that I love would be Marishka, my little girl kitten. She started hanging around the house about three weeks ago, very thin, very small, and very much in love with the food I was giving her. Everyone I know that saw her that first week guessed her to be only three months old (I had no idea, however). After a week of feeding her and asking every single neighbor down the block if she belonged to them, they recognized her, anything at all, I decided to take her to the vet, because I couldn't not take her in
The vet decided that from her teeth, she thought a little over six months! And while she doesn't look it, she weighed 4 pounds! Anyway, we did the shots, tests, and have to go back in two weeks for some more boosters and stuff, but we should be able to spay soon. She's living totally indoors now (has since she went to the vet), and has never looked back. Doesn't show interest in going outside, and she won't be anytime on my watch!
Anyway, I've had a cat before, a rescue who found my mom, who had leukemia who needed a home the last few years of his life. The most adorable old male cat who had a huge head and heart. He passed in Feb 2004, sadly, but was loved and cared for and lived past the expectancy of the vet (good, relatively healthy 2 years, I might add!) Otherwise, I've never done the cat thing and most is pretty new to me, so I was glad to find this wonderful place to learn what I need.
I am a college student, work in a craft store, and hope to be a chaplain one day. I have a 17 year old cockatiel, the queen of the house. A 7" turtle- a YBS named Maya, who I've only had a few months. I live with my parents and little sister with my parents dogs, a german shep. Hans, and jack russell Jasmine. I am really excited to meet everyone, and learn any tricks of the trade!
