Hi All,
I just registered yesterday after lurking for a while.
My husband and I have 2 bunnies (Bennett- male black and white mini lop) and Fiona (female silver marten). The babies are very bonded.
My parents, who live 2 hours away, have the family cats, 2 3-month old kittens, Baggins (female tortie) and Sammy (male ginger tabby). I go home all the time to see them. They were born the day after we had to put to sleep our 20 year old kitty Brighty. It's still unreal that Brighty's gone
She was the last in her family line - we had her mother and grandmother. I brought her grandmother, Whiskers, home when I was 7 and I'm now 29, just to give you an idea of how long her family was a part of our family. Baggins and Sammy are obviously named for Lord of the Rings characters because the song Into The West, from Return of the King, was comforting to us after Brighty died. So they have a very special connection to Brighty.
Anyway, I'm hoping to learn a lot about kittens here since it's been 20 years since we've had any kittens around the house. Right now we are concerned with getting them scared of cars, since pretty soon they'll be big enough to run around in the garage and in the yard. (They go outside on leashes now to learn their boundaries). Also, if anyone has any ideas about familiarizing cats and rabbits, I'd love to pick your brain. We've had several positive interactions between the four, and I'd like to continue with that so that there's peace when we all go for a visit.
Whew, sorry this is so long!! I'm glad to be here!
Emily
