When Lily arrived, she hd been living rough, the shelter received her with multiple cat wounds on her face. Despite her ordeals she was looking for love and seemed to really appreciate being in safe place with toys and windows , high quality food and clean water. She took a long time to emerge from her safe room- a small sitting room off the master bedroom, Slowly she ventured out into the master bedroom and bath but spent about two months in her sanctuary. Now she feels very comfy on two floors of the three story house, she has no inclination at all to go near doors and she has learned the sequence of evening rituals in our house.
I though I would never love another cat as much I loved our beloved calico who died of kidney failure in early winter but this cat has moved into my heart and soul. we especially enjoy being on the floor together, butting heads, spooning and what one book called cat dancing.
She had one
bad habit: waking us in the night,,,, my husband created this habit by going her treats when he got up to pee, but I taught him how to extinguish this behavior plus we bought an automatic feeder to give her two small portions of kibble in the middle of the night.
This cat lets me clip her claws with no problem and even dean her teeth with a gauze covered finger, Soon I will switch to a small brush
