Hi it's me Filomali. I have 2 tuxedo cats, litter mates, since they are 7 weeks old. they are now 13.
I posted in this forum 2 years ago about possibly getting another cat about the same age as my cats, but just before I went to adopt, she was adopted by someone else.
I was pretty devastated but glad that she found a home.
Now 2 years later, I'm on the verge of adopting another cat.
Our vet is at a shelter, and last week I took my cat, Thomas, there because he had an ingrown claw (grew into his paw pad), and I was with my 5 year old daughter. We went to visit the cat room and she fell in love with a 2 year old female cat. This kitty is very social and not afraid to interact with my daughter. Our cats are old and they sleep most of the time, no interaction with kids whatsoever.
We went back because we ran out of medication (the vet didn't give enough), and we saw the cat again.
Over the weekend I took my husband and other daughter to meet the cat.
We had a crazy busy weekend so we couldn't get to the shelter before they closed on Saturday, and they are not open on Sunday.
Tomorrow is the day!!! I'm anxious too. I don't know how my 2 cats will react to this newcomer. I'm planning on putting the new cat in a closed room for a few days to make sure she is healthy.
The ideal is to adopt early as soon as the shelter opens, but then I can only bring 1 daughter as the other one is at school. If I wait until school is over, I'm worried somebody else will adopt the cat. (not likely but you'll never know). So this is something I'm thinking about.
QUESTION: How much would you pay to adopt a cat. 2 years old, all shots current except for rabies, spayed, has been in the shelter for less than 2 weeks. They have a "pay as you will" system.
