HEY there!
Joined yesterday to get some help and advice for some orphaned kittens, and love all the information on this site as well as the community of people!
I am Stefanie from Gainesville, Fl (Go Gators!). I absolutely love animals(especially cats) and am currently pursuing a career working with them as a zookeeper/animal trainer and eventually want to retire by working/volunteering part time with animal rescue. I volunteer with a local rescue group and also foster kittens for them, and am also getting involved with volunteering for a local wildlife rescue as well as a big cat rescue (lions, tigers, cougars..!) for abandoned/abused exotic cats.
I am a newlywed of almost 9 months! We have a cat named Roxy who will be 4 in June. She is a former stray and was given to me by my then boyfriend-now husband when she was about 6 months old. She is a huge brat who is a spayed (been fixed twice!) indoor kitty and we love her to death. We also have a 13 month old black lab/st bernard mix named Samson who is the biggest baby on the planet! (see pictures below).
We recently raised and socialized three 5-week old feral kittens we found in our backyard. They went from mean, hissing, attacking cats to friendly, lovable cuddle cats and got adopted out to great homes. We now have four 10-14 day old kittens we, again, found in our backyard that we are raising. It is a great deal of work but I love every minute of it! To fix the problem of all these feral cats having loads of litters(my irresponsible neighbor feeds them and thinks it's funny they keep having kittens) we are getting them fixed and vaccinated through our local TNR program at their next clinic!
Wow, that was WAY longer than I planned. Must have been from that Mt Dew I just drank! lol
