....I think.
Several of you may have read my posts in the Spotlight about finding a little baby girl, who will soon be joining our family. She is now four weeks old. I will know exactly when her birthday is as well as her Gotcha Day, the day she officially becomes a RugCat (or RugKitten, as the case may be).
The animal hospital called me yesterday afternoon. She is definitely going to be our baby, no question. And she's not really a tiger/tabby; she's getting some red stripes, too, so maybe she's going to be more tortie. She has tan/white lines between her eyes and around her mouth. Her neck and chest are dark, but she has this really cute tan or white belly. Paws are dark. And she has red stripe areas. I wanted to take some pictures of her with my phone, but I didn't want the flash to scare her.
So anyway, I went down to the hospital to spend some time with her last night. And there we sat in the corner of the office with her in my arms, nestled against my chest. We were "talking" last night about what her name would be. I mentioned several different names and got no response. Then I said, "Bastet" and she squeaked. I said "Bastet" again and she squeaked again. But she doesn't really look like a Bastet, although she might grow into a Bastet as she gets older.
After I got home from the hospital last night, I was taking a basket of laundry to the basement and I was singing, "Lollipop, lollipop, oh lolly, lollipop" only it came out "Mollipop". And I thought, that's it! Mollipop! It's cute and it's quirky. Not Mollypop, but Mollipop. So we'll see. Next time I go down, I'll talk to her again. If she really prefers Bastet, that's what her name will be. But I do like Mollipop.
She's content to sit there and look at me. She did crawl up into my neck, snuffled in my ear a few times, then bit my earlobe. And started to purr, probably to reassure herself that I was really OK. And just like when I met her last week, the only time she started to fuss when was the receptionist took her away from me to take back to her mom.
We get her on April 1st.....I guess she'll be our little April Fool's girl.
