Hi, I have a 3 year old cat and she has just had her second litter. Her first litter was very good, no problems and she had 5 healthy kittens. We had her booked for getting spayed and my 3 year old let her out. Anyways last night around 11:20pm she had her first kitten, healthy, nursed right away. The second kitten came about 20-30 minutes later. About 20 mins after the second one came, she became disinterested in it. I tried to see if it would nurse but it was weak and died about 5 mins after that. I looked it over and where the umbilical cord should be there was a hole. Very sad it died, but now I was worried about more. Both placentas came out and were consumed so I assumed everything was ok, but it is now 9pm and it seemed in labor on and off all day, but now she is wandering through the house. We have kept her secluded, because we have a very nosy dog and it seemed to stress her out to have him near. She wouldn't stay still enough to labor last night without me touching her, and if I hadn't laid her down on a towel, she would have had them on me. So my husband and I have taken turns laying with her and we took the dog for a walk to take some stress away. Now we are home and she was digging at the door to get out, so we did. I am just worried about how long she can stay away from the kitten, and I think she is still in labor. She is starting to breathe a bit heavier and has fluids (clear and bloody-ish). Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks
