I just noticed my cat a swollen back paw. She is a indoor old lady. My vet is closed today. Not sure what to do. She has hyperthroidism. She is a very picky eater, so I have making sure she is getting her pills.
I posted this in the wrong place before. I just noticed my cat a swollen back paw. She is a indoor old lady. My vet is closed today. Not sure what to do. She has hyperthroidism. She is a very picky eater, so I have making sure she is getting her pills.
Also just thought of ... soaking her paw in warm water with a little epsom salts (if she'll allow it - maybe you could have a heated soaked towel beside where you sit with her on your lap and somehow get her to rest the paw on the towel).
Did you get this senior lady to the vet? I didn't post before because I didn't have a clue what you should do. I think it is amazing that you have a cat that is 23 years old.
Oh! 23 years old!!! WOW!! You have to have taken such GOOD care of you kitty, and it must have good genetics too! I hope her little paw is better by now!
Yes I took her to the Vet. All the blood work came back normal or as normal as a 23 yr can be. The Vet suggested that she maybe in heart failure and the only way this can be found out is by x-ray and if does not show up than go for a ultra sound. Not sure what we are going do, the Vet told me to think about it over the weekend. She is not in any pain (or i would know) still eating and still using litter box. The vet also suggested because she does not have a lot of activity this also could cause swelling. I'm just glad it is not a kidney problem. We had a cry fest at our house last night. She has been a good cat. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the concern.
Congratulations on having a cat 23 yrs old. What a wonderful thing that is.
I hope the paw is better. And by the way, I am sure everyone would love to see a picture of this dear old cat.
