Hi Everyone!
On Tuesday (the 5th), my 1 year old cat suddenly started fumbling around and falling down whenever he tried to walk. within a couple hours he was unable to walk at all. He could still move his limbs, but they were not weight bearing at all. I rushed him to an ER Vet and was there all night with him. They basically told me that they thought he had cancer or organ failure and I should consider euthanizing him. I obviously decided to take him in for a second opinion.
The second vet has been giving him liquids through an IV, antibiotics and steroids. They have seen a little improvement in his red blood cell count, but that's about it. He is still not walking. He is alert and meows/lifts his head up, but that's about it. The second vet though that maybe he had eaten something toxic and could be flushed out, but its been about 36 hours and he is in the same state. He tested negative again for leukemia, so its not that. He also has recently lost a couple pounds and is not eating very well.
Has anyone on here dealt with a similar situation? The vets are all unsure of what is going on and I am very worried about him.
Thank you!!
