Hi.

My cat BamBam is desperately in need of your kind help with his vet bills and expenses. Here's his story copied from his facebook page 'BamBam's Journey Fighting Jaundice' because it's quite long for me to re-type it again.
FUNDRAISER: BamBam's Story With Jaundice:

On May 17th 2016, BamBam was eating less than usual, his breathing was rapid and looking gloomy/depressed. Thinking his bladder is blocked due to Urinary Tract Infection (he has history of it and his bladder flushed last year), I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with respiratory disease. However, the next day I noticed his urine had been extremely orang/yellow (like mixed with turmeric powder) and increased urination and water consumption. Then he started looking yellow. Extensive googling points to JAUNDICE, a fatal illness which often leads to death. All of the stories I found online have been very depressing.

On Thursday, he was looking gloomy and depressed again. Gave him coconut water for energy but after he took his medicine that night, he choked and vomited. I was so scared.

Friday morning he seemed slightly cheerful and was still eating but by late evening, he had refused food especially his ultimate favorite - fried chicken. I got worried. A call to the specialist vet confirmed he has jaundice but his words were 'jaundice has no treatment, no cure'. He said I could try blood transfusion but it'll be very $$$$$$ but still there's NO GUARANTEE.

What's jaundice in cats?

Icterus (or jaundice) is a yellow discoloration of the gums and tissues due to a higher concentration of bilirubin, a bile pigment formed as a result of the normal breakdown of hemoglobin present in red blood cells (RBCs)

With jaundice, the most important thing is to get them to eat and drink so they don't starve to death because that sickness WILL make them stop eating/drinking. Jaundice is a sign of other serious critical illness.

On Saturday, he completely stopped eating and drinking. Force-feeding failed as he spat everything out and would not swallow. I tried everything from fresh young coconut water, goat's milk, his medicine, herbal syrup, food, chicken - all failed. I forced him to eat a good quality wet food and I managed to force a little bit in.

By Sunday morning, he was extremely weak. He vomited a little bit in the morning and after getting advice from a lot of people about putting feeding tube on him and getting a 2nd opinion at a different vet, I took him to a different vet, did another blood test and it showed blood parasite. I didn't have money to do extensive tests so we did the most important first. He was administered subcutaneous fluids, given an injection for the blood parasite and some other medicine and a special instant diet food in powder form (Royal Canin convalescence support). I refused to leave him at the vet because I'm afraid it would stress him out too much that his heart might stop (happened to my other cat which I still regret to this day). He has phobias of everything and doesn't like strangers and strange environment. I believe he'd fight stronger to get better at home with lots of TLC. Because of that, I'd have to sacrifice and take him to the vet every day to get his sub-q fluids administered for as long as he needs it. Doctor also don't recommend putting feeding tube on him since that requires surgery and as he was so weak, he might not wake up at all.

After he got home, his condition was critical. He couldn't get up, peed on himself and was breathing rapidly. He wouldn't even let me touch him. But after a couple of hours, his breathing gradually slowed down a bit, and by night time he became responsive.

So I force-fed him the instant diet food and surprisingly he liked it, did not reject me, did not freak out at the sight of the syringe and finished it all! Somehow that food gave him an instant boost of energy and he could get up and talk to me again!

The next morning, there was finally SUN! As part of my home treatment for jaundice is to get him some sun. 2 days earlier the weather had been rainy and cloudy. He was extremely happy to get some sun. Fed him more of the instant diet food, he finished it fast without struggle and he seemed more energetic. By late afternoon, he drank a bit on his own! After his 2nd-day vet visit, his appetite returned and he ate a lot on his own! I didn't have to force-feed him with syringe :)

His treatment will continue and I'll keep updating his progress in this facebook. But I really want to share his story and struggles with everyone to show that hope is not lost for cats with jaundice. Despite EVERYONE telling me it's a fatal illness with no chance of cure including the vet, telling me to put him out of his misery on Sunday, I'm determined to help BamBam the best that I can so he could heal. The main thing is you have to have faith and don't stop fighting until it's the end. I'm happy with his progress so far and it has been positive. Please keep him in your prayers and send him your love and support.

He still needs to be on medicine for a while, and need to do other tests to check for other sickness that led him to get jaundice which are all very expensive. I'm trying to raise funds to cover his expense (and for my other cats as well). If you would like to show your support for BamBam and reduce the burden of his vet bill and expense, please visit his youcaring page or at least share this story so other owners know jaundice is not the end. There is hope :)

Thank you so much to everyone for your wishes and helpful advice from when he was very critical, who showed love and support for BamBam. I really appreciate them with all my heart. I really hope BamBam will stay strong and continue fighting this!
His update now:

He's doing so much better now compared to last month but his jaundice is still present and he's still making daily trips to the vet for his subcutaneous fluids. When he's better I plan to have him vaccinated and neutered (right now he's not healthy enough to go through neutering). His 4 other siblings are also sick, mostly with respiratory problems (BamBam is the flu virus carrier) so the money raised will also be for my other 4 cats (along with some strays) to get their medical help.

Here are some of his pictures when he was diagnosed with jaundice:

Here's the doctor's letter:

Here's a video of him getting his subcutaneous fluids (on daily basis until his jaundice is gone)

And here's the video of him getting a new medicine for his blood parasite (doxy-something, previously on Baytril)

Any help is greatly appreciated! Please also help me share his youcaring page to those who could help!

Thank you!

Please help me share BamBam's youcaring page (www.youcaring.com/BamBam) to those who could help and anywhere you feel fitting. There's no word for me to express my gratitude for your kindness and support! I will be posting updates on BamBam here whenever I have any updates and also my other cats' vet visit (part of the donation would also go towards their treatment).

Thank you again so much from the bottom of my heart to those who donated or helped share his youcaring page (please help share the page every day!)

Stay tuned for more updates soon!

Here are a couple of his latest pictures from yesterday at the vet.

The doors were closed shut because we were past the clinic's business hours and he was surprised and thought we were locked in and couldn't get out!

Please help donate to BamBam or if you can't, please keep sharing his fundraiser. BamBam's fund is getting alarmingly low and I'm getting very worried.

Your help is greatly appreciated!
