My husband turns 50 early in January. He asked if we are having family over to our house for the holidays but since his birthday is in the early part of January I would rather not have two seperate gatherings. So I was planning on Jan 7th.
I think most people by that time are sick of eating christmas cookies, cheese and sausage, ham and turkey etc... So what I was thinking was making a hugh vat of chili and having dishes with additions like sour cream, noodles, cheese, onions etc... Also homemade tortilla chips, a fruit and veggie tray. Beverage I have planned out already. I have no idea for dessert-again something pretty easy and not related to christmas foods. How does that sound??? Any other ideas for foods??? We will end up with a fair amount of people I'm hoping to keep it under 40 as I want to invite some friends in addition to his brothers and sisters!!!!! He comes from a large family and we have 17 nieces ad nephews most whom are married and have small children of their own. My house is not I am hoping most of the football games on TV are over too as otherwise that is what "the guys" will be watching. There will be card playing otherwise.
I have not done alot more planning on the gift. I think we could set our iternary together as I have run into a problem for the day I want to fly to England!!!
Any suggestions will be appreciated as always
