There is one cat we’ve never been able to TNR we can’t catch her, and somehow she always ends up pregnant. She’s very feral. I don’t think she knows what to do because every litter she has had, has died after a few days. She’s had about 6 litters maybe more. She had a litter either yesterday or the Day before. I found kittens scattered everywhere in our very large garage, 4 that I found. Mama cat was only with one of them. One kitten looked like it still had a large red sac of some type still attached to it, I hope it wasn’t born with organs outside. I cut that off at the umbilical cord, laid the other 3 kittens with mama and found the one that I cut the sac off dead and stiff an hour or 2 later. The remaining 3 kittens are still meowing like crazy, mama is with them outside in a box but she leaves every once in a while. Since she’s had such bad luck with litters I don’t know if I should bottle feed them myself or hope that she’s knows what she’s doing this time. I have everything to feed the kittens. Did this with my baby when she was the runt of her litter and being picked on by her siblings, had to raise her after a couple of days old. Have kitten formula, unfortunately it’s the liquid kind, syringes etc. I just don’t know if I should take them in or leave them with mama. Is it possible for a cat to not have nipples? I’m just thinking of reasons why none of her kits have never survived. Any advice is much appreciated!! Thanks!

If you have a large carrier or a humane trap put the kittens in there and then when the mother goes in you can either spring the trap or close the carrier door.

You need to get her spayed. I don't know whether it's possible that she can't feed them for some medical reason, but obviously she can get pregnant. It's not humane to allow her to keep having kittens that die.

Yes, I think hand raising the kittens is the only way they will survive. If they've been hand raised they'll be socialised so you should be able to re-home them.

Please use this opportunity to get mom spayed though.

Do you need help finding a low cost clinic near you?

I think you shall handraise them, as this IS an option for you.
You can begin with this premixed KMR, and during the time try to find something better. Goats milk perhaps is easier to find?

Momma will perhaps continue to help out - if not you are on your own. But you must take the charge if you want to be decently sure they will survive and thriwe.

ps. Be sure they are nicely warm before you feed them.
If they arent warm enough, you can begin with giving them little water with honey or white caro syrup. Its no food, but it will keep them alive till they are warm and ready to eat.

You are an angel to take on this responsibility, you will be blessed for your compassion. I have had some females, very few, in my lifetime that are JUST NOT MOTHERS. They get pregnant (they have no choice really) and then allow the kittens to die. A very good indicator is the 'scattering 'of kittens, not all in a nice chosen nest. I've had two that actually killed the kittens as they were born. (bite marks on neck). So give these little guys a chance and know you tried with mama. Maybe she won't be so overwhelmed with one. I agree she must be spayed, this is a horrible tragedy that shouldn't be allowed to go on. Bless you and thank you!

Any update on them? I definitely think you should use the babies as bait to try to catch mom since you have been unable to catch her up until this point!

That is such a great idea. I never thought of putting them in a trap to catch the mama. We have a couple from when we TNR.

The cheapest I get them spayed is $30, not sure it’d be cheaper than that.

Did not know that. I thought honey was bad for infants, wouldn’t it be bad for newborns as well?

Nobody has ever had any problems.
Of course, you can use white caro syrup if you wish.

Main thing it contains much glucose sugar.

If you can get glucose sugar / dextrose proper, its the best of course. But seems to be difficult to find in USA. While here in Sweden any food shop has it.

It’s been a sad day. I went to check on the kittens this morning when I woke up. And the remaining 3 had passed away. Mama was nowhere to be found.

I'm sorry the little ones didn't make it. It must have been quite a shock for you to find them all gone. It doesn't look as if their mom ever joined them in the trap. She will probably come back and enter the trap if you put food there for her. Obviously she is not normal just like some humans aren't. I hope you can catch her and have her spayed before she gets pregnant again.

I'm so sorry to hear the kittens didn't make it. We always lock the threads when a cat or kitten has passed away, so I'll lock this one now.

We have our Crossing the Bridge forum where you can make a memorial thread for the kittens if you wish.

If you would like to start another thread about trapping the mother cat please do so in our Caring for Strays and Ferals forum. We have lots of experienced TNR people there, so you should get some good advice on how to get her trapped and spayed.

Rest In Peace little kittens.
