I have a recliner that I was cleaning under. I reclined it and lifted the foot rest to clean out all of the debris that gets trapped in there. I then pushed the foot rest back down and put the chair back in upright position. I started sweeping the rest of the room, and after several minutes, I heard a faint, muffled little meow. I realized that I had not seen my 6 month old kitten since I started cleaning out from under the chair. I immediately panicked and went over to lift the foot rest, and sure enough, he came running out of the chair. I feel really stupid for not checking to see where he was before I put the chair down. There was no sound from the kitten and there was no resistance from the chair when I had closed it up. He is also big for his age so I am baffled as to how this could have happened. I had raised the chair up and let it down a couple of times to shake out any loose debris after I had closed it up also, with him apparently still inside the chair. I feel awful, imagining him banging around in there. My kitten seems fine and does not appear to be injured, but I am worried that he could have been injured internally. Maybe I am overreacting, but I wonder if I should have him checked out by the vet. I am worrying and obsessing over this since it happened two hours ago. What do you think I should do? He is eating, drinking, and playing like normal, but what if some injuries show up later? I know that cats are good at hiding pain. Any advice would be appreciated.
