My aunt has a community of cats that live under her porch that she feeds several times a day. So when my mom and said we wanted a kitten, she was happy to catch one for us.
We caught the kitten in a vinyl crate. Initially, she freaked out and yowled, but after the car ride, she calmed down enough for me to put in a bed, food and litter pan. In the middle of the night, the kitten manipulated the zipper, opened the crate, and broke free. She had liter in her food and water. There were clumps in the box, and moisture under her bed but I'm not sure what was water and what was urine.
Now she's wedged between the couch and where we store our christmas tree, staring steadily at the door to the apartment vestibule.
My mom and I live in a tiny apartment, so there really isn't a room where we can give her to free roam.
I put down food for her, but she dashed to another corner after I moved away.
This is our first cat, period. We're a little worried that the kitten is too old be be acclimated to a life with us at 3-4 mo of age. Granted we only had her for a day.
Any advice would be well received.
