I adopted a stray cat whos former owners left him behind back in March 2012. This cat the second you open the fridge or pull food out is right there wanting some, every time. The past 3 days he hasn't made any attempt to eat or drink whatsoever. Last night it was pouring rain and he was gone all night, which he never has did once. He came home only today, and just seems to sit in one spot and not move.
I gave him some tuna, which usually he scarfs down, and his favorite, and he took a bit and began drooling, and making a weird sound almost like he was choking but he wasnt. I noticed black around his gums and teeth area. And it appears he has been peeing himself and not cleaning himself properlym which also he usually does constantly. This just came out of nowhere as he was perfectly fine a 4 days ago, and all of a sudden started acting strange like this.
All I have noticed is that his flea collar has been removed, whih I did not remove, I dont know if that has anything to do with this, but happened around the same time this started happening, his flea collar was off of him. Also I got a new kitten on Christmas, which is constantly running around trying to play with the other cat, who is older, although I dont know his exact age he seems young as I have seen him (the cat thats sick) run down the road as fast as you could imagine, so I am assuming hes is under 10. And he has been fine for eating and everything since I got the kitten, so I doubt that could be the reason either, as this just started 3 weeks after I got the kitten here, but have had Wilson (the sick cat) since March 2012.
Another odd thing is he always seems to puke like once a week. And I feed him high quality cat food, and fresh water, and lives in a clean enviroment. But he was always like that since I took him, but again has never acted the way he is now. He has been sitting in one spot for hours on end, and won't respond or barely look at me when I call him, again which has never happened.
Somebody please help, and please do not tell me to go to the vet if that is your solution, its not helpful. I cannot afford a vet, that is the reason I am leaving this post to get help, telling me to goto a vet will be of no help, as I already am aware that would be the ideal solutuion.
Unless you know of a vet that is cheap, or want to help me pay for the vet for him, I need another solution, or advice.
Would appreciate any help, or if anyone has had this happen to their cat that could give me some insight on how to make him better. Thanks.
