Hi. I am Zara and one of my recently adopted kitties went from being a long hair to a short haired looking cat. He was an extremely beautiful maine coon looking boy at 2 to 3 months and had the type of fluff that I had never seen in any other cat of that age (pretty sure he was triple coated).
When we made the transition from winter to summer he started losing a bit of fur but still had his fluff but as soon as we adopted him out he started losing a massive amount of fur. His coat started thinning out and in the recent update that I recieved from his owners I was heart broken and quite shook. He looks like a complete short hair. His coat has quite literally thinned out and except for his toe tufts and the lengthy fur and long whiskers it's almost impossible to tell that he's the same cat! He even lost his beautiful lynx tips
I am quite concerned for this baby. Any suggestions on what might be the problem?
